Home/Long Island movers that publish a rate: 4 of 38
4 of 38 print a price
We read the website of every one of the 38 companies in this directory on 21 October 2026 looking for a printed price. 4 print a price for a move or for the liability sold on a move: LIM Movers Long Island, Safeway Moving, Charles Wood Moving and Samonas Prime Moving. 3 more print a dollar figure for something other than the move, storage at Men On The Move, junk removal at College Hunks and coupons at Long Island Moving & Storage.
The remaining 31 print no dollar figure of any kind, and 35 of the 38 print no price for the move itself. Every figure below is copied as the research recorded it, with the first party label and the page it came from. Next to each figure we print the company’s federal record as read the same day, because a published price and a federal record are two different facts and a reader needs both.
The home page at charleswoodmoving.com prints four flat prices, each for 2 movers and 1 truck (first party). The site says you will know the cost before the crew starts.
The footer prints License CAL T-180982, which is a California style household mover number. No USDOT or MC number appears on the site. A SAFER name search for CHARLES WOOD on 21 October 2026 returned nine carriers in other states and none in New York (FMCSA record). The site prints no phone number as text. Before paying, ask for the legal name of the operating company and its USDOT number.

The Nassau County page at safewaymovinginc.com prints three ranges (first party). It says every quote is a binding flat rate calculated from the cubic footage of your inventory and that the quote you sign is the invoice you receive.
SAFER lists Safeway as a carrier with USDOT 3756000, MC-1335229, 51 power units and 35 drivers, authorized, at an address in New Chicago, Indiana (FMCSA record, 21 October 2026). The numbers on its site match. Its site gives a Fort Lauderdale headquarters and no Nassau County street address.

$1,800 to $3,200
$3,500 to $7,000+
The home page at moverslongisland.com prints a table headed Average Same Day Moving Service Cost (first party). The Virginia through Florida line comes with 5 to 10 business days and 1 week of free storage. No hourly rate, minimum or travel rule is printed.
The site prints no USDOT, MC or NYSDOT number and no legal name. SAFER name searches on 21 October 2026 returned no record we could tie to it (FMCSA record). Its FAQ puts basic liability at about $.30 to $.60 per pound per item and says written binding estimates are optional.
| Destination | Studio | 1 bedroom | 2 bedroom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boston | $1000 | $1400 | $1800 |
| Washington DC | $1100 | $100 (as printed) | $2400 |
| Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida | $1400 | $2300 | $3800 |
Samonas Prime Moving publishes no move rate. Its FAQ at samonasprimemoving.com does print a figure most sites hide: the price of added liability on a local move (first party).
The same FAQ says a small deposit is required to hold a date, the balance is due on move day, and long distance quotes are binding. SAFER lists USDOT 1292731, MC-502447, 4 power units and 3 drivers, authorized, at a Sound Beach address, while the site gives Riverhead (FMCSA record, 21 October 2026).
$0.50 per $100 of declared value, $2,500 minimum value, $12.50 minimum cost.
$0.30 per pound per article.
$0.60 per pound per article at no charge.
offered on top, price not published.
FMCSA says a rate quote is not an estimate. A binding estimate is a written document given after a physical survey, on site or virtual. Safeway describes its quotes as binding flat rates, but that is a claim about the quote you sign, not about the range on the page. The estimates guide covers what each kind promises.
Three more sites print dollar figures, none of them for the move itself (first party, read 21 October 2026).
Two others print words rather than figures. Maffucci’s FAQ says released value at $0.60 per pound is included and Full Value Protection is offered, with no price for it. All Terrain’s FAQ says local moves range from a few hundred dollars for a small apartment to over a thousand for a larger home.
Men On The Move, storage: Prices start at $35 for Woodbury self storage and Prices start at $19 for its Storage Cube, on its terms and location pages. No moving rate.
$99.00 to $699.00 in its example price ranges and $150.00 to $750.00 in its FAQ, on its Long Island page. No moving rate.
$100 off the first month of storage with a three month minimum, and $100 off short haul interstate moves on flexible dates.
A household goods mover licensed by New York files a tariff with NYSDOT with all rates shown, and the NYSDOT booklet says it is illegal for a mover to offer a discount off its tariff rates. Section 196 of the Transportation Law requires a written estimate on request, given only after a physical examination of the goods. On the interstate side FMCSA says a rate quote is not an estimate and requires a physical survey, on site or virtual, unless you waive it in writing.
A web page cannot do the physical examination. What a reader can do is ask for the figures the law already requires in writing. For a New York move, the order for service must show the estimated charges and the maximum amount due at delivery. For an interstate move, the written estimate must say whether it is binding and, if non binding, that you will not pay more than 110 percent at delivery. Ask for these five things.
None of the 38 we read. Tri-State says it charges hourly with travel included and prints no figure. Austin and Maffucci say local moves are billed hourly with no figure. The only flat prices are Charles Wood’s, from $390.
No. FMCSA says a rate quote is not an estimate. A binding estimate is a written document given after a physical survey. Safeway describes its quotes as binding flat rates, but that is a claim about the quote you sign, not about the range on the page.
Because it prints prices, and this page lists every company that does. Next to the prices we print what we found: no USDOT or MC number on the site and a California style license number in the footer. SAFER showed no New York carrier under the name as of 21 October 2026.
The NYSDOT Mover’s Guide says it is illegal for a mover to offer a discount off its tariff rates. Coupons of the kind Long Island Moving & Storage prints are a question to put to NYSDOT at (518) 457-6512.
It is released value, the default liability on an interstate move. FMCSA’s example is a 25 pound television, for which you would receive $15. Full Value Protection costs more; the 2022 handbook sets its minimum at $6.00 per pound.
